Il Fait Froid Toujours, Mais C'est Pas Grave

When the temperature drops and stays down, people usually get sick.  This week has been no exception, and pretty much everyone is sniffling or coughing or just feeling run down.  My throat's starting to act up a bit, so I've been guzzling Chamomile tea (which has been my vice for over a year now) and trying to stay warm.  That didn't stop me, however, from taking a really relaxing walk after school today.

I had enough time to walk home at a leisurely pace without the sun setting completely, so I took my time and just enjoyed myself.  I took my favorite detour, which steers me about 20 yards out of the way but sends me past a truly gorgeous church, and then found myself surrounded by cars at the rond point (round-a-bout).  I'm still not sure what the rules are regarding right-of-way, so I did the best I could to get across without being flattened by a bus or tram, and then I found myself walking through my neighborhood.  It was the first time that I didn't need to take a second to find my bearings at the last rond point, so I was feeling pretty triumphant when I get to my street.

For dinner my host sister made some kind of casserole that tasted like it had mashed potatoes on top, but she said there weren't any potatoes in it.  Regardless, it was delicious.  After dinner my host mom revealed that she had bought a new DVD play, so I spent the evening watching Mulan in French.  I realized pretty quickly that the French subtitles don't match the French words, especially in the songs.  I was very proud of myself for picking up on that before my host sister pointed it out to me.

This weekend is looking super busy, so I probably won't be around to check in until Sunday (after Mass...ahhh.  I haven't been to Mass since I went with a friend in the second grade.  I hope it goes well).

Bisous!
