I Constantly Crave Baguettes & Cheese

I'm coming to the realization that I'm not ever going to be fully rested while I'm here.  After two full nights of sleep I'm still drained, but in a good way.

Yesterday was our first completely free day since we arrived, so naturally we all set out to tear up the town.  I met up with a big group of students at the center, and we walked over to Monaprix (pronounced mon-a-pree, but we say mon-a-prix because it sounds cool) and got food.  I had eaten a Luna Bar before my 45 minute (solo!) walk to the center, so I decided to just get a yogurt, but when I finished I was craving more.  I was ecstatic to discover that Monaprix carries Fage (Greek yogurt with, like, 10 grams of protein in every serving), so I dug in.

*Side note: How am I not gaining a ton of weight?  All I eat is bread and cheese and yogurt and eggs with the occasional vegetable and at least two desserts daily.  I think the rules of physics don't apply in France or something.*

Monaprix also had school supplies, so we all picked out notebooks and pencils and stuff like that.  They don't have cheap paper folders here...I ended up buying gigantic plastic envelopes to keep my papers in, but they were really expensive.  Also, the paper is all this weird lined-graph hybrid which I'm sure I'll come to love but right now confuses me.  How big am I supposed to write?  Do I double space?

When we were all done at Monaprix, Addie and I headed off in search of Doc Martins and ended up being separated from the rest of the group all day.  We tried to reunite a few times, but it never worked out, which was fine.

Addie found her Docs pretty easily, but I came to a horrible realization...my feet cannot fit into Docs.  Like literally; I tried two different sizes and the shape is all wrong.  Stupid high arches.

But then we remembered that we had visited this crazy punk-goth-badass store the day before, so we headed back to Rock A Gogo.  There I found combat boots that both fit me better and looked even cooler with my style of clothing.  I got them super cheap because of the Soldes (there are only 2 times during the year when things are on sale and this is the first one).

We spent the rest of the day wandering around, browsing shops, eating cheese and chocolate.  It was really relaxed.  At one point we bought a huge meringue, and before it was gone Addie spotted a homeless man with a sign saying he was hungry, so she headed over to give him the rest of the meringue.

I ended up coming home early because I was craving soup (I brought some Alphabet soup with me from the US and it totally hit the spot), and because at night I have to take the tram instead of the train and I still don't really know the 10-minute walk from the tram to my house.  I'm paranoid about getting lost alone late at night here even though everyone says it's fairly safe.

I ended up curling up in bed with The Matrix and calling it a night.  I was completely exhausted and it felt wonderful not to wake up to an alarm.

Today I've been chilling out, applying for summer jobs, and now it's time to clean my room.  Oh boy.

I hope y'all are doing well stateside.

Eat something delicious!
